Kaufeldt landed her first TV job at KFBB in Great Falls, Montana. She was a main anchor at the CBS station in East Tennessee for three years and another three years at KJRH, an NBC affiliate in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After her family, her love is journalism.
Over the course of her career, Kaufeldt has interviewed some pretty interesting people, including former First Lady Laura Bush, World Series Champ Darryl Strawberry, football legend Joe Montana, Garth Brooks, Julie Andrews, former President Barack Obama, and coaches Lou Holtz and Don Shula. Kaufeldt is a breast cancer survivor. She discovered a lump in her breast in April 2022. After seeing her doctor, she underwent a mammogram, followed by an ultrasound, and then a biopsy. A week later, it was revealed she had cancer. Though the lump was not visible on her mammogram, it was seen on the ultrasound. An MRI later revealed a tumor on the other side. She underwent a biopsy, discovering that she had cancer in both of her breasts.
Following her public announcement in May 2022, Kaufeldt took a temporary medical leave from FOX 35 to undergo cancer surgery. Her treatments were successful, and she officially returned to the anchor desk in July 2022. She continues to attend regular oncology follow-ups and scans to ensure she remains cancer-free.
Kaufeldt is an emcee and advocate for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events in Orlando. She also supports local childhood cancer organizations, like Central Florida’s Runway to Hope.
