In 1997, WNBC-TV recruited Beck as a reporter and weekend sports anchor. In 2009, he was promoted to primary sports anchor. Beck worked as an NBA TV studio anchor from 2000 through 2008.


In 1986, Beck started broadcasting professional boxing on the MSG Network. He now works as a match referee for Top Rank Boxing and ESPN+. For USA Network, Showtime Championship Boxing, and other overseas broadcasts, Beck has also provided blow-by-blow commentary. Beck most notably operated the headset for Mike Tyson II vs. Evander Holyfield on June 28, 1997.


Beck oversaw the blow-by-blow operations for the Epix (TV network) from 2011 to 2013. He called the action from Macau for HBO2’s boxing broadcast in 2015. For Spike TV’s Premier Boxing Champions and Spike’s Bellator Kickboxing in 2016, Beck performed some blow-by-blow responsibilities.
