Awards from the Birmingham Association of Black Journalists, the Birmingham City Council, the Alabama Literacy Council, and the State Board of Education are among the additional distinctions.
Additionally, she received the Bill Miller Friend of Education Award for Outstanding Contributions to Education from the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators and a prestigious spot on the Statewide Education Media Honor Roll of the Alabama Association of School Boards.
