Petri works for WKRG as a weekend morning anchor and digital journalist at News 5. He is always prepared to cover news while on the go, with a suitcase packed. Since moving to the Gulf Coast in 2007, Chad has covered some of the most significant stories Alabama has ever seen. He witnessed the destruction and ongoing recovery from the 2010 BP accident.

Covering the terrible tornadoes that devastated Tuscaloosa and the rest of the state’s heartland, Chad spent weeks in central Alabama. He has also covered four college football national finals throughout the nation in Pasadena, California; Phoenix, Arizona; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Miami, Florida, so he is no stranger to sports reporting. When News 5 has a significant story that takes place far from home, Chad is typically the person they send. Whenever the Alabama legislative session starts and ends, he is a constant in Montgomery.

Chad hails from Ellicott City, Maryland, a small suburban town situated midway between Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. He started his first employment as the head cook and bottle washer for a cluster of five radio stations in Rolla, Missouri, after graduating from college. In addition, he has held jobs in Sioux City, Iowa, Jacksonville, Florida, and Danbury, Connecticut. Chad is thrilled to be back in an area with nearly year-round temperatures above 70.
