In the early 80s, he earned recognition for his role as Leslie ‘Magpie’ Maddern in the series, The Sullivans.

For his performance in The Sullivans, he received a Logie award for Most Popular New Talent. Bodyline’s Donald Bradman served as his initial significant role in 1984. Additionally, he had lead roles in An Indecent Obsession in 1985 and in 1987‘s The Lighthorsemen.

Further, he starred in Big Sky, and Dog’s Head Bay. In 2004, he played the recurring role in the police drama series, Stingers. In 2008, he served as a narrator for the docuseries, Sudden Impact. From 2012 to 2017, he played a leading role in the drama, House Husbands.

His notable other films include The Circuit, Rain Shadow, Cops L.A.C., The Tracker, Alexandra’s Project, Gettin’ Square, 2:37, and Macbeth. Sweet appeared on the 5th season of Dancing with the Stars as a contestant alongside dancer Eliza Campagna. They stayed to the final 7.

On a side note, he has made an appearance in stage productions such as The Club and The Recruit. Also, he made an appearance in Frankie Valli-tribute musical Oh, What a Night, and in the musical comedy, Little Orphan trAshley alongside Rhonda Burchmore.
