Andrea Byrne Pregnancy| Fertility Issues

Bryne has publicly talked about her personal struggle with infertility, which lasted seven years. In February 2020, she delved into the emotional and physical struggles she and her husband experienced while trying to conceive.

Byrne shared that multiple doctors told her that it was unlikely for her to ever be able to carry a pregnancy on many occasions because of a rare genetic defect that caused an issue with the thickness of her womb lining. She said that she and her husband underwent multiple IVF cycles and miscarriages countless times, culminating in a stinging loss or disappointment. In 2018, they began exploring the idea of finding a surrogate in the USA after doctors told them surrogacy was their only hope.

Besides the physical strain of endless pills, injections, and procedures, their relationship was also strained. At times, she felt guilt and even thought her husband would be “better off” without her, to the point of encouraging him to find someone else. Fortunately, the couple eventually had a daughter, Jemima, who was conceived naturally in 2019, defying medical expectations.

Byrne emphasized the importance of kindness to oneself and sharing her journey to help others feel less alone. Further, she hosts the Making Babies fertility podcast and has written a book on the subject titled Desperate Rants & Magic Pants: Our Fertility Story.
