Siff’s reporting also played a significant role in a second major station accolade. The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), which presented NBC 4 New York with the 2020 National Edward R. Murrow Award for Top Television Newscast, honored his efforts during the fatal December 2019 gunfight in Jersey City.
Siff, who regularly uses all forms of public transit and commutes by train every day, has given viewers tours of some of New York City’s most recent public construction projects, such as the Second Avenue train, the East Side Access Project, and the new Kosciuszko Bridge. In preparation for the new regulations in New York, he also traveled to London to evaluate the effects of congestion pricing.

In 2014, he was also given a national Edward R. Murrow Award and a national Emmy® for his coverage of Superstorm Sandy with NBC 4 New York.
In addition, Siff received two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards in 2019 for feature reporting and a third regional award in 2020 for his story of a veteran’s battle with PTSD. Siff, a 12-time New York Emmy® Award winner, was named the best traffic and transportation reporter in the area in both 2018 and 2019. Also recognized in 2013 for “General Excellence in Reporting”
Siff’s reporting was an important part of NBC 4 New York’s award-winning COVID-19 coverage, which was recognized in January 2021 with the prestigious Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for “creating) a 360 view in real time of the coronavirus pandemic, with courageous and thorough reporting on the virus’s explosion in New York City.”
The duPont Award, given by Columbia University as well, is widely acknowledged as the Pulitzer Prize of the broadcast, documentary, and online worlds. Siff detailed the COVID-19 epidemic and the Cuomo and DeBlasio administrations’ responses, as well as its effects on neighborhood businesses, public transit, and both students and instructors in New York City’s public schools.
