He joined the station in the summer of 2016. Previously, he worked for WFAA in Dallas.

Ashton Altieri Education
Altieri attended Central Michigan University where he studied meteorology and broadcasting. Upon completion of his studies, he received a Bachelor Of Science degree in Meteorology, Broadcasting, and Journalism in 2002. Later, he relocated to rural Mississippi where he joined Mississippi State University. In 2004, he attained a Master Of Science degree in Geosciences in 2004. During his time in college, he worked in Lansing at WLNS and in Columbus at WCBI.

Before Texas, Altieri worked in Denver at 9NEWS for 7 years. Coming from New Jersey, he mostly grew up in Michigan where he was an Eagle Scout and competed at the state level in Cross Country. He ascribes his passion for weather to when he attained the weather merit badge at the age of 12. His interest was sealed when he witnessed a nearby tornado while on a camping trip the same year.
During his career, Altieri has worked at TV stations in Des Moines and Sacramento. Via his on-air work, he received the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society. Also, he has the Television Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association. Annually, he goes to schools along the Front Range where he speaks to the students about the weather and the significance of studying math and science.
