He is working toward attaining his private pilot’s license. Brad Ledford Accident

Ledford was in a car crash that left Madison Cawthorn, a former U.S. congressman from North Carolina, partially paralyzed in 2014. Then aged 17, he was driving a 2007 BMW X3 owned by his father’s company with his childhood friend, Madison(18 at the time), who was his passenger. They were traveling to North Carolina from a spring break trip in Florida. Madison was asleep in the passenger seat, reclined back with his legs on the dashboard.

Ledford dozed off while on the wheel, veering from the interstate and crashing the car into a concrete barricade at about 65 miles per hour. The car erupted into flames almost immediately after impact. He then moved an unconscious Madison from the car through the passenger window after unsuccessfully trying to kick out the windshield. While moving Madison, a bystander helped him carry him 200 yards away from the car. Madison sustained a broken pelvis, crushed spine, and broken ankles, resulting in permanent paralysis from the waist down.

Following the accident, Madison’s father and brother thanked Ledford for saving his life. However, in 2017, Madison publicly claimed Ledford had left him for dead in the “fiery tomb” of the vehicle and ran into the woods to save himself, leading to a long legal battle and public dispute over what actually happened. Madison also claimed he was declared dead at the scene, contradicting official police reports that described him as “incapacitated.” When questioned about his allegations, Madison said he had no memory of the accident, while Ledford said he was deeply hurt by the accusations.

After initially receiving a $3 million settlement, Madison later pursued an additional $30 million in damages. He also filed multiple personal injury lawsuits against Ledford and his father’s company. In July 2022, he dropped the final $30 million lawsuit against Ledford. Despite the disputes and legal conflicts, the two reportedly reconciled. Ledford even attended Madison’s 2020 election victory party, where Madison introduced him as “the guy who saved my life.”

With Jesse Palmer returning as the host of the franchise, The Bachelorette Season 22 was set to premiere on March 22, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. On March 16, 2026, the Draper City Police Department confirmed an active domestic assault investigation involving Taylor and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. Despite this, ABC confirmed the season will air as planned. Disney Entertainment Television shared that they would not broadcast Paul’s season of The Bachelorette because of the newly released video and wished to focus on supporting the family.

The Bachelorette‘s format follows the same rules as its parent show, The Bachelor. The journey begins with the leading lady standing in front of the mansion, individually greeting each male contestant as they enter. At the end of every episode, the Bachelorette hands the contestants a rose to symbolize her continued interest. If a contestant doesn’t receive one, they will be eliminated from the competition. In the final weeks, the Bachelorette visits the hometowns of the last four men to meet their families. The final three then travel to an exotic location for “Fantasy Suite” dates, which offer private overnight time without cameras. The season typically ends with a marriage proposal from the final choice, which the Bachelorette can either accept or decline.
