A veteran of the U.S. Air Force Scarborough began his career in television at WLOX-TV in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he worked as an anchor and operations manager. He worked as an anchor/reporter for the television stations WAGA in Atlanta, WNAC in Boston, and WDAM in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Stryker (1978), The Myrmidon Project (1980), and Aftershock (1991) are the three books he has written. He has also contributed pieces to American Home Magazine, New York Magazine, and Boston Magazine. Scarborough is a skilled pilot who has a commercial pilot’s license.
