Nick was given slightly over a year to live, even once he began treatment.
In 2023, Pathieu and Nick spoke at the annual Lou and Jean Malnati Brain Tumor Institute Minds Matter event to raise funds for brain cancer. They tied the knot on October 27, 2012, as suggested by her Facebook post on October 27, 2015, captioned “Three years ago, today! Happy anniversary to my best guy!! ❤️…” Nick was a firefighter at the Milwaukee Fire Department, where he won the Medal of Valor for saving an infant from a fire.
