During his time in college, he served WETS-FM NPR as a board operator, host, and producer. Stanton attended Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Kentucky from 2005 to 2008.

Stanton works as the chief medical contributor for FOX 56 Lexington. He began his media career at the age of 14 when he was a radio narrator for a broadcast in Johnson City, Tennessee. Between college and medical school, he worked for WJHL in Johnson City as a production assistant.

Stanton continued his work as a producer during medical school and residency. In this capacity, he produced a film music program and NPR’s medical segment “What’s Going Around.” While he was a physician, he interned at the ABC News Medical Unit in Needham, Massachusetts, under Dr. Timothy Johnson. Since then, he has hosted What’s Going Around, Tools of the Trade, and The Doc Is In.

Following his residency, Stanton worked with the University of Kentucky at both of their hospitals until 2013. He also worked alongside the Central Emergency Physicians at Baptist Health Lexington. In March 2013, he began working as medical director for Lexington Fire/EMS.

Besides his journalism work, Stanton continues his work as a full-time emergency physician in Lexington. Further, he serves on the board of directors of the American College of Emergency Physicians and is the medical director for GMR Motorsports, including NASCAR. He also works as an EMS medical director in Lexington and a national spokesperson.
