Next, she worked for the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission as a researcher where she managed and interpreted research on historic buildings in the East Village.

In May 2008, Finkelstein joined the Pratt Center for Community Development in Brooklyn as a research consultant. There, she examined historic buildings in Downtown Brooklyn’s Fulton Mall.
