Horng works as a general assignment reporter for WLS ABC 7. He has played an essential role on Eyewitness News broadcasts, covering various major stories like the 2011 historic Chicago blizzard and the destructive tornado that hit Washington, Illinois, in November 2013. He also covered the Chicago Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup playoff run in 2013 and the Chicago Cubs’ World Series championship in 2016.
Horng also took part in covering the death of Fox Lake police lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz and the Laquan McDonald police shooting video footage, which won the station two Emmy Awards. Before joining WLS, he was an ABC News correspondent for Good Morning America, World News, and Nightline. He frequently filled in as an anchor for the early morning programs, America This Morning and World News Now.
During his tenure with ABC News, Horng covered many big stories, such as the Terri Schiavo legal battle in Florida, the 2008 Northern Illinois University shooting, the Michael Jackson criminal trial in California, and the Minneapolis bridge collapse in 2007. In 2005, he reported live from Louisiana during and after Hurricane Katrina. Also, he reported live from Chicago’s Grant Park during President Obama’s victory speech on election night 2008.
