He anchored the morning following the Oakland Ghost Ship warehouse fire and in the evening the Camp Fire reached the town of Paradise. He has also broadcasted the Warriors Parade.
Mallicoat started his journalism career in Eureka in the mid-80s where he served KIEM as a sports broadcaster. Next, he relocated to the east where he worked as the sports director in Manchester at WMUR, in Boston at WLVI, and in Detroit at WJBK before rejoining Boston to start his news career in 2001.
Mallicoat worked for WLVI as the lead anchor and was the weekend anchor at WFXT in Boston before arriving in the Bay region. In the Bay region, he worked for KPIX as a morning anchor for 5 years before joining KTVU FOX 2. During his career in Boston, he has broadcasted multiple New Hampshire primaries, the Red Sox breaking “the curse,” Senator Ted Kennedy’s funeral, and Tom Brady clinching several Super Bowls.
