Martinez earned the Mozart Leader in Stem Award for being a role model to children and for “Outstanding Work in the STEM Field” in 2021. She kick-started her career at WMDT-TV in Salisbury, Maryland, where she worked as a weather forecaster. In that role, she predicted the weather impacting the coastal areas of Delmarva. In addition, she launched the Spanish weather platform for the station. Her passion for meteorology was ignited by the wide range of climates and severe weather she experienced at a young age in Texas.
