The accident happened due to a mechanical failure, where a jammed gear caused the ship to stay in gear while docking. He reduced the damage by shutting down all engines and using the anchor to slow down the vessel. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and there was mainly cosmetic damage to the port side of the yacht.
