The Debut: Dream Academy followed Yoonchae and 19 others who were chosen among the over 120,000 young women globally, with auditions held across South Korea, the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom in 2022. The 20 women underwent rigorous training under seasoned coaches and producers. The 20 contestants competed for one of the 6 spots in the HYBE x Geffen US-based girl group, KATSEYE.
Over 12 weeks, Yoonchae alongside 19 others participated in three singing and dancing missions where she performed “OMG” by NewJeans, “Antifragile” by LE SSERAFIM, and “Confident” by Demi Lovato. During the live finale event in Los Angeles, Yoonchae was announced as one of the final six members who make up the official group, KATSEYE.

Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE is an 8-part Netflix docuseries that follows the creation of the HYBE x Geffen US-based girl group, KATSEYE. The show shares the intimate process of how Yoonchae and 19 other finalists(referred to as “trainees”) were modeled after the K-pop training and development system, eventually culminating in the choosing of the final six members who debut as KATSEYE.
