Hill works for KCAL CBS Los Angeles as a host of the weekend editions of “Sports Central.” Also, he appears on the station’s weekday newscasts at 6 and 11 p.m. He started his sportscasting career with KCAL CBS in 1976. In 1987, he left the station to serve KABC Los Angeles where he worked for 4 years before rejoining CBS LA in 1992.
Before starting his broadcasting career, he served the NFL as a football defensive back. In this capacity, he played for the San Diego Chargers, Green Bay Packers, and Cleveland Browns. He incorporates his football and broadcasting experience to deliver his awarded sports reports.
In May 2006, he was granted a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2010, he served as an inductee of the Southern California Sports Broadcasters Hall of Fame. The organization has often named him and his colleagues the best TV sports anchor staff in the region. Also, he has received honors from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, United Press International, the Los Angeles Press Club, the Associated Press, and numerous other organizations.
Hill has also received recognition from several local newspapers as Southern California’s best sportscaster numerous times. USA Today named him the best sports anchor in Los Angeles. The LA Press Club granted him the Joseph M Quinn Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.

Active in the community and sports fitness organizations, he is a spokesperson for the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. In this capacity, he serves the Office of the Mayor and the Department of Recreation and Parks in many youth outreach and sports fitness programs. He works on the board of directors of the Los Angeles Urban League. In addition, he works as an advisor to the board of the Boy Scouts of America.
Hill works as a member of the Governor of California’s Board for Physical Fitness and Sports and the President’s Council for Physical Fitness. Previously, he chaired Los Angeles County’s “Just Say No” anti-drug program, the Watts Summer Games, president of Athletes for Kids, and was a member of the advisory board for the Grossman Burn Center.
