Garcia works as a general assignment reporter for WLS ABC 7 Eyewitness News. Before that role, he worked as a co-anchor for ABC 7’s Sunday Morning news from 1995 to 1997. Prior to joining the station, he worked as a co-anchor for KSAT-TV, the ABC station in San Antonio, Texas, for its morning and noon newscasts.
Garcia worked for KXAS-TV in Dallas as a fill-in anchor from 1991 to 1994 before he moved to San Antonio. He also worked at KOAT in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as a reporter and fill-in anchor from 1988 to 1991. From 1987 to 1988, he worked at KMID in Midland, Texas, as a weekend anchor. He served as a reporter for KTIV-TV in Sioux City, Iowa, from 1986 to 1987.
Garcia has been honored and awarded for his work during his career, including five Regional Emmys and a Silver Dome Award from the Illinois Broadcasters Association. He also won Drake University’s Young Alumni Achievement Award. In addition, he received Best Spot News honors from the Northwest Broadcasters Association. The Associated Press has also recognized him through its Best Series award. Moreover, he won the Dallas Katie Spot News Award.
