Briones was part of the ensemble of Miss Saigon at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, West End, from 1998 to 1992. He then starred as Rapunzel’s Prince in Into the Woods at the Repertory Philippines. In 1992, he worked with the Repertory Philippines in multiple productions, including Little Shop of Horrors as Seymour Krelborn, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as The Narrator, and Les Misérables as Enjolras. The following year, he starred as The Lion in The Wiz at the Repertory Philippines.
From 1994 to 1995, Briones went on tour in Germany, playing Swing and The Engineer in Miss Saigon. In 1997, he appeared in Children of Eden as Adult Storyteller at the Paper Mill Playhouse.
