In 1993, Hill joined ITV Cymru Wales, formerly HTV Wales, as a general news reporter and bulletin presenter for HTV Newsdesk and Wales at Six. He was promoted to one of the main presenters of Wales Tonight in February 1994. Ever since, he has worked as the senior anchor for the station’s main regional news programmes, including HTV News and ITV Wales News. Moreover, he worked as a frequent presenter of ITV News at 10.
Hill has worked as a presenter and producer of documentary programmes for ITV Wales, including Crime Secrets and Helicops. Additionally, he worked as a contributor to Wales This Week, a weekly current affairs programme. He won the 2001 BT Welsh Journalist of the Year Awards for his report about the murderer Mark Shillibier on Wales This Week and a BT Welsh News Broadcaster of the Year Award for interviewing the Archbishop of Cardiff.
Hill began working as an associate editor and executive producer for all of ITV Cymru Wales’ programming. On August 10, 2023, he began working as a presenter on ITV News weekend bulletins on ITV and ITV News London, making his debut on the network. He occasionally presents national weekend bulletins.
Hill published his first book, The Pembrokeshire Murders: Catching the Bullseye Killer, which he co-wrote with DCI Steve Wilkins, lead investigator of Operation Ottawa. The book is based on the serial killer John William Cooper.
