Hill works as a presenter, journalist, and producer for ITV Cymru Wales Television. He began his professional journey as a freelancer for BBC Radio Wales before joining HTV Wales in 1993 as a general news reporter and bulletin presenter for HTV Newsdesk and Wales at Six.
In February 1994, Hill was named one of the main presenters of Wales Tonight and has since been the senior anchor for the station’s key regional news shows, including HTV News and ITV Wales News. Additionally, he periodically hosted ITV News at 10. He created and hosted documentaries for ITV Wales, including the well-liked series Helicops and Crime Secrets (which has since been shown on Men & Motors and ITV’s Nightwatch with Steve Scott).
He has also provided commentary for Wales This Week, a weekly current events show. For a report on convicted murderer Mark Shillibier for Wales This Week in 2001, Hill was named BT Welsh Journalist of the Year. For an interview with the Cardiff Archbishop, Hill was named BT Welsh News Broadcaster of the Year.
Hill was chosen to serve as associate editor and executive producer for all of ITV Cymru Wales’ programming in May 2009. He presented ITV News weekend bulletins on ITV and ITV News London on August 10, 2013, marking his network debut.
He continues to occasionally deliver national weekend bulletins. The Pembrokeshire Murders: Catching the Bullseye Murderer, which Hill co-wrote with DCI Steve Wilkins, the head investigator of Operation Ottawa, was published in September 2013. It is based on the life of convicted serial murderer John William Cooper.
