She is the originator of the critically acclaimed “Unsolved” series on WCTV, which explores some of the most infamous missing persons and cold cases in the area and offers the general public a one-stop shop to discover more about the crime. In an effort to humanize the victim and in the hope that someone, somewhere, knows something, she invests weeks at a time in researching, speaking with witnesses, recording, writing, and editing each narrative.
Unsolved Florida was named the “Best Investigative Series” for a small market by the Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists in 2022. Her investigation of a 15-year-old cold case in Tallahassee won the market award for “Best Investigative Report of 2022.” The 2020 Florida Associated Press named Katie its “Best Breaking News MMJ.” She has covered a variety of topics, including the effects of Hurricane Michael, a Southern California prison, and the 2018 midterm elections in Florida.
