In an effort to humanize the victim and in the hope that someone, somewhere, knows something, she invests weeks at a time in researching, speaking with witnesses, recording, writing, and editing each narrative.

Unsolved Florida was named the “Best Investigative Series” for a small market by the Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists in 2022. Her investigation of a 15-year-old cold case in Tallahassee won the market award for “Best Investigative Report of 2022.” The 2020 Florida Associated Press named Katie its “Best Breaking News MMJ.” She has covered a variety of topics, including the effects of Hurricane Michael, a Southern California prison, and the 2018 midterm elections in Florida.
