Long works as a meteorologist and multi-skilled journalist for 12 News. Before her tenure at 12 News, she launched her career at KTVL News 10, the CBS affiliate in Medford, Oregon. She spent her four years there as a news and weather anchor on weekends and a weekday multimedia journalist, covering Southern Oregon and northern California. Her work in Medford earned her an Associated Press Award for Best Continuing Coverage and another for Best Weathercast.

Throughout her career, Long has won 11 Emmy Awards. She was also inducted into the National Honor Society of Journalists. Since 2018, she has served on the NATAS Rocky Mountain Board of Governors, including its foundation since its launch in 2019. She currently serves as the Education Chair. Her work on the board was inspired by hosting the Student Production Awards 2017. From then on, she has hosted every year with a passion and dedication to supporting upcoming journalists and meteorologists.
