Gontarek works as the morning meteorologist for KVVU FOX 5 Las Vegas from 4 to 10 a.m. He looks forward to living in the desert Southwest and working with the FOX 5 Las Vegas team. He landed his initial on-air job in Rapid City, South Dakota, after finishing his undergraduate studies. While in Rapid City, he served KOTA as a weekend meteorologist, learning and gaining firsthand experience through the powerful severe weather the Black Hills experiences throughout the seasons.
Following his time in Rapid City, Gontarek moved to Eugene, Oregon, as a morning meteorologist for KEZI. There, he tracked textbook subtropical cyclones that brought soaking rain and heavy snow to the Willamette Valley and to the Cascade mountains.
