Before this, she worked at WFAA in Dallas, Texas, as a reporter and anchor. There, she anchored the station’s morning show and covered breaking news. Before this, she worked at KFYR in the Greater Bismarck Area as a morning news anchor and reporter. She co-anchored and filled in as a producer for the station’s highly ranked show Country Morning Today in the morning from 5 to 7 a.m. Moreover, she covered the Standing Rock Reservation’s opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline. She won first place for a national journalism award from the NLGJA for her documentary on Two Spirit Native Americans. In addition, she also received Best TV News Reporter from the North Dakota Broadcast Association, among other dozens of local broadcast awards.
Mitchell was honored by Best of Cincinnati Awards as the Best TV Anchor and Best Journalist, and claimed third place for Cincinnatian of the Year in 2022.
