His affection and respect for weather are deep, springing from his maternal family that settled in Kansas in the 1800s.
Before joining KCTV5, Nicco worked as chief meteorologist for KSHB. There, he managed a 5-person weather department and led coverage on severe weather events. In addition, he led fundraising teams and charity walks for the Alzheimer’s Association and American Heart Association in honour of his mother-in-law. He was also a daytime meteorologist at KGO in San Francisco, California. He worked as a morning meteorologist before getting promoted to his final role.
Throughout his career, Nicco has covered various weather events from ice storms, blizzards, raging wildfires, storms, and tornadoes to hurricanes, droughts, and even earthquakes. He is affiliated with various animal organizations, working to find shelters and homes for abandoned pets.
