Before joining the station, Fierro worked at NBC 15 in Mobile, Alabama, as an anchor and reporter. There, she earned her first Edward R. Murrow award, together with her news team, for Overall Excellence. She worked at KEPR-TV in the Tri-Cities, Washington, before moving to Mobile. While in the Tri-Cities, she worked as a multimedia journalist and weekend anchor, marking the start of her career.
One of Fierro’s notable works is the coverage of the murder of 11-year-old Gannon Stauch. In spite of network and worldwide media attention, Stauch’s biological family entrusted her with the coverage and development of their son’s case. Fierro spoke exclusively with Stauch’s stepmother, Letecia Hardin, who was found guilty of his murder, before she was arrested.
