Ford worked for WSPA in Greenville, South Carolina, as a reporter before moving to Pittsburgh. She was also a weekend reporter and anchor for WCTI-12 in Greenville, North Carolina. During her stay in Carolina, she covered several significant stories, such as the landfall of Hurricane Matthew that caused historic flooding in the state. Additionally, she spent weeks in the courtroom for the Townville Elementary School shooter trial and unraveled the story of the BMX legend Dave Mirra’s death. Additionally, she covered one of the only four Category 5 hurricanes to make landfall in the U.S. She had to travel the Florida Panhandle to cover the aftermath of Hurricane Michael.
