Love Island USA follows a group of single contestants who are referred to as “Islanders” and are living in a villa in Fiji. Isolated from the outside world, they must couple up to survive in the villa and are under constant video surveillance. The Islanders initially pair up based on first impressions and later re-couple during special ceremonies, where they can stay with their current partners or switch.
Every islander has a phone to communicate with others and receive updates on challenges, eliminations, and re-couplings. They also participate in games and challenges that test physical and mental abilities, reveal secrets, and provoke drama, with winners sometimes winning special prizes like dates or nights at the Hideaway.
Eliminations occur through public votes through the Love Island app, and if a contestant remains single after re-couplings. During the final week, the public decides which couple should win the series, with the couple with the most votes being crowned the winner.
