Sheri received six awards from the Mississippi Associated Press for her exceptional performance as an anchor and reporter. She received recognition for her coverage of The Mississippi Innocence Project, which contributed to the reversal of two women’s 44-year jail sentences.
Sheri also covered the Deepwater Horizon oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010, and she was present when a 35-year-old man who had been found guilty of murder at the age of 18 was put to death in 2012. She also covered the tornado that tore across the city in February 2013.
Sheri began her media career in the background, working as a traffic producer for nearby radio stations in her native Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She also worked at WTVJ-NBC6 in Miramar, Florida, in the production division.
