Albritton works as a news anchor for WLWT News 5. Before joining the station, he worked as an evening anchor for KMBC 9 News in Kansas City for 3 years. In addition, he co-hosted the KMBC 9’s storyteller podcast. There, he spent a week at Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, Virginia, and flew out on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier (CVN75) to cover multiple stories. He has covered various breaking news stories, including the 2019 EF-4 tornado that took place near the University of Kansas campus and the start of potential major violations within the Kansas basketball program. In addition, he covered the NCAA tournament when the 1-seed Virginia got robbed by the 16-seed UMBC, while tracking the Kansas State Wildcats through the tournament.
Albritton worked at KATC in Lafayette, Louisiana, as an anchor and reporter. He served for four and a half years, starting as a weekend news anchor and then being promoted to his final role as an anchor for Good Morning Acadiana. While there, he covered major stories including the F-5 tornado in Moore, Oklahoma, Hurricane Issac, the Carnival Triumph stranded at Sea, and delivered full coverage on the historic 2016 flooding in southwest Louisiana. Albritton has received various accolades while at KATC; for instance, he was honoured as a “Reporter of the Year” and “Story of the Year” by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters and the Louisiana Associated Press. Moreover, he possesses two Emmy awards, for his broad coverage on the opioid epidemic, and another for a special coverage of the Ball State Football program, one being earned during his time at KMBC 9.
