During her time in Richmond, Cunningham covered the governor’s ‘blackface” scandal, the mass protest that erupted with George Floyd’s murder, destructive tornadoes, and many Confederate statue removals, such as General Robert E. Lee. Moreover, she anchored breaking news and weather coverage, including an ice storm, causing residents to go without electricity and heating for weeks.
Cunningham started her journalism career as an anchor and producer for WCHV in Charlottesville, Virginia. There, she worked in production and editing, then got promoted to a morning anchor.
