However, her career did not follow a typical route. She worked in radio as a DJ for two years, as a science teacher at public schools, and as a sales specialist before becoming a meteorologist. Her time as a DJ also played a part in shaping her meteorology career, as meteorologists don’t use Teleprompters; thus, it’s easy for her to ad-lib thanks to her radio experience. Also, it helped her develop the confidence to deliver the forecast clearly, particularly during crucial weather outbreaks.
Before her time at FOX13, Nations worked as a communications specialist for Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris. Her weather career started at WREG, where she worked as a weather expert. She believes that the weather is a reflection of life, that molds conversations, daily lives, and assists people’s understanding of the world. She carries this ideology both in her personal and professional life.
