Carla Wade, a journalist with two Emmy Awards, joins WVTM 13 from the ABC affiliate in Las Vegas. She spoke about the vibrant local housing market, education, Nevada’s legalization of recreational marijuana, and the devastating mass massacre on the Las Vegas Strip.
Additionally, Carla has reported and anchored in Lexington, Kentucky, Oklahoma City, and Dallas. She received her degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, where she also began working in local radio.
In each of the cities where she has resided, Carla has prioritized giving back to the neighborhood. She helped found the local chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists in Las Vegas, partnered with the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada to encourage STEAM education, and hosted the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. national convention there.
She continues to be active with the National Memorial to Oklahoma City. Since she lost her father in the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, she holds the memorial in particular dear.
