Jonathan’s biggest role models in life are his parents. He says his father, who passed away in 2023, and his mother taught him everything about being a man, husband, and dad.

Skinner works for WAFF 48 News as a Morning Anchor and Reporter. Before arriving in Huntsville, he served as a Morning Reporter and Fill-in Anchor at WBRC 6 News in Birmingham, and as a Weekend Anchor and Multimedia Journalist at Erie News Now in Erie, Pennsylvania. In both roles, he reported on a range of stories, including social justice protests, the COVID-19 pandemic, high school football, and other local news. He is especially passionate about sharing stories that inspire, inform, and encourage thoughtful conversation.

Outside of work, Jonathan is deeply involved in his faith community, which plays an important role in his life. He’s also a huge sports fan, especially when it comes to NCAA football and basketball, as well as the NBA, NFL, MLS, and international soccer. Having grown up in North Carolina, he proudly supports the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, Carolina Hurricanes, Charlotte FC, and North Carolina Tar Heels. In baseball, he cheers for the New York Yankees. When he’s not watching sports, Jonathan enjoys playing them virtually. He’s an avid gamer and is always ready to take on anyone in EA Sports College Football 25, EA Sports FC 24, or NBA 2K24.
