Castaneda tied the knot with Daragh Adamson in 2010. According to sfgate.com, they met in 2000 during a Giants game when she was working as an emergency medical technician at the park. Because of conflicting schedules, they couldn’t arrange to meet and continued with their separate lives.

Nonetheless, in 2007, he discovered her relationship status was single on a social media platform. This prompted him to invite her out, leading to his proposal to her on Twin Peaks in 2008. The couple has two daughters and lives in the East Bay with them. Their daughter, Sienna, was born in March 2015 and is 9 years old.

On March 9, 2015, KTVU congratulated him and his wife for welcoming their baby safely to the world via a Facebook post. Over the course of his career he has broadcasted numerous different stories as a traffic reporter and as a general assignment news reporter.

Castaneda obtained an Emmy Award for broadcasting the 2014 Napa Earthquake. In addition, he won an AP award for providing coverage for the debut of the new Bay Bridge Eastern Span. While in the Bay region as a general assignment news reporter, he has broadcasted many stories including crime, transportation, and San Francisco politics. 

Castaneda’s news career started when he worked off-screen as an intern. Next, he worked for multiple Bay Area news stations as a news writer. Ultimately, he transitioned from radio to TV when he attained his initial TV job at KTVU in 1995. Before that, he worked as a radio DJ in San Francisco at LIVE 105 FM in the early 1990s.
