Finkelstein worked as a program manager at Open House New York(OHNY) displaying New York City’s history and architecture from May 2002 to November 2005. In this capacity, she wrote grants and press releases to fund and endorse OHNY and coordinated year‐round talks, lectures, special occasions, and fundraisers. Next, she worked for the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission as a researcher where she managed and interpreted research on historic buildings in the East Village.
In May 2008, Finkelstein joined the Pratt Center for Community Development in Brooklyn as a research consultant. There, she examined historic buildings in Downtown Brooklyn’s Fulton Mall. After her stint there, she worked for the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation as the director of preservation and research from August 2008 to January 2012. While there, she also chaired the Damsels in Design NYC Mentoring Committee.
From January 2011 to 2013, Finkelstein freelanced as a copywriter, tour Guide, and architectural historian. In January 2012, she joined Pratt Institute as a visiting professor till her departure in January 2013. While serving at Pratt Institute, she joined Color + Information as a copywriter and project manager. She also worked for Town Residential as a researcher and copywriter. In 2014, she joined Country Living Magazine as a writer. Her last published article on the site was on July 11, 2018. Since 2013, Finkelstein has worked as the founder of CIRCA Houses, an online display old house marketplace.
