Larsen was raised in California before relocating to Oklahoma. From Missouri, her great-great ancestors traveled by covered wagon to Oklahoma Territory, where they established in the state’s southwest. Prior to Mountain View being a state, her great-grandmother was born there. Brian Jenkins, her grandpa, was born in 1918 and grew up in Healdton and Fort Cobb.

While some people believe that news anchors just read the headlines, she spends every afternoon at her desk reporting for the 5 p.m. broadcast, preparing the 2 Works for You Right Now updates, and writing and producing videos.

She has won an Emmy Award, and several award-winning films about health and welfare issues were created, written, and hosted by her. Three ladies fighting breast cancer were the subject of “2 for the Cure: Life Stories”. During her own mother’s battle with breast cancer, these incredibly inspirational, brave people provided a ton of support and encouragement.

A short while afterward, she spent a whole year drafting and delivering the essay “Shaking the Silence: Prevention, Awareness, and Education of Shaken” Following that, she and her photographer, Aaron McColloch, created another documentary on four patients battling four different forms of cancer. These programs received recognition at the local, state, and federal levels, including the esteemed Edward R. Murrow Award from the RTNDA.

After just a short while, she spent a whole year writing and delivering the essay “Shaking the Silence: Prevention, Awareness, and Education of Shaken Baby Syndrome.” Working with talented photojournalists, she followed a young father from his arrest to his conviction and all the way to the day he was sentenced to prison for cracking the baby’s skull.
