He also spends time away from the anchor desk, covering important local news stories.
In 1996, Blaine’s career got its start in his native New Orleans. Before landing in Norfolk in 2007, he made pit stops at radio and television stations in Georgia and Mississippi. Back then, he even had hair. Blaine has worked at WTKR as a weekend weathercaster, a feature reporter, and a live-breaking news reporter. In 2010, he was appointed co-anchor of the newscasts at noon and in the morning.
The Associated Press has given Blaine prizes over the years for his reporting and newscast production. He has accompanied viewers live from the field and in the studio through countless hurricanes, nor’easters, and snowstorms. Additionally, he has covered some of the most significant events that have affected our region of the world, including spending weeks on the Virginia Tech campus in the aftermath of the 2007 shooting rampage.
