In this capacity, he forecasted for 2 different states (Virginia and West Virginia), spanning the Allegheny Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. He received the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Designation from the American Meteorological Society.
Holtzman’s most memorable work was experiencing his first hurricane, Hurricane Charley, in 2004, when he was on vacation in Florida. The hurricane reached category 4 strength with winds of 150mph, leading to significant damage and loss of life. As a result, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) retired the name, never to be used again.
