In 1995, Dan joined ABC7 as the 5:00 p.m. daily news anchor and investigative reporter. Associated Press, United Press International, and the Press Club of Atlantic City are just a few of the groups in the business that have praised Dan for his outstanding work.
At Durham, North Carolina’s WTVD, an ABC-owned television station, Dan made his television debut. Later, he served as the primary investigative reporter and anchor for WCBD-TV, an ABC station in Charleston, South Carolina, from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m.
Dan is a prominent member of the community and sits on the boards of many deserving institutions, among them The Commonwealth Club.
The Bay Area Red Cross, The Oakland Symphony, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), The Contra Costa County Crisis Center, The First Tee, and the Bammies Music Foundation, where he also serves as president.
In addition, he organizes the yearly “Dan Ashley’s Friends of Camp Concord Golf Tournament,” which raises money for underprivileged kids to attend summer camp. More than 10,000 children have received full scholarships to summer camps because of Dan’s charitable golf event.
Dan has established the nonprofit “Rock the CASA Foundation” to generate money for the CASA organization and other charities through an annual performance.
Major superstars including Eddie Money, REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, Melissa Etheridge, Patti LaBelle, and Rick Springfield have performed at Dan’s charity concerts throughout the years.
