Loesch serves WPXI Channel 11 News as a co-anchor in the morning and at noon. During his time at the station, he has held several positions, including anchoring the news at 10 p.m., noon, and on weekend evenings. As a 5th grader, he delivered newspapers for the Iron Mountain Daily, which he believes marked the start of his news career.
Loesch kickstarted his TV career while he was still in college. At the time, he worked as a reporter and photographer at WWTV in Cadillac-Traverse City, Michigan. He worked as a weekend anchor, later becoming a morning anchor at WKBN in Youngstown, Ohio. Next, he moved to Detroit where he served WXYZ as a reporter and fill-in anchor.
During his career, Loesch has accumulated 8 Emmys, including the Mid-Atlantic Emmy Best News Anchor Award in 2024 and 2022. Moreover, he won 20 other Emmy Award nominations, including for Best Anchor and Best Reporter. In addition to that, he has been recognized in the breaking news, features, and best reporter categories by Edward R. Murrow, Associated Press, Michigan Association of Broadcasters, and Golden Quill Awards.
Notable Works;
One of Loesch’s notable works is the Western Pennsylvania flood of 2004. He and his photographer witnessed a scene where a physically impaired and deaf woman was trapped in her car in floodwaters. She was saved by a police sergeant who was inexperienced in swimming, and all this was captured on video. He has covered some major stories in Pittsburgh over the last 20 years, including the mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue and the Fern Hollow Bridge collapse.
Loesch covered the aftereffects of natural calamities such as winter storms, floods, tornadoes, house explosions, and presidential visits. He travelled to multiple countries to report about elections, in countries like Harrisburg, Allentown, York, and Philadelphia, for the U.S. Senate elections, and in the New Hampshire presidential Primary.
Loesch reported the Amtrak train crash in Philadelphia and Blacksburg and went to Virginia for the VA for the Virginia Tech shooting massacre. Loesch was among the first reporters to appear at the scene of the LA Fitness shooting spree and the Sago mine disaster; furthermore, he reported on the G-20 protests. He traveled to Vatican City to cover Pope John II death and reported from Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Washington, D.C.
Loesch accompanied Pittsburgh fans across the country for the Steelers’ Super Bowl games in Detroit, Tampa, and Dallas, and the Penguins’ Stanley Cup Finals, including the team’s visit to the White House. He also broadcast live in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh from the Winter Classic. He was the only Pittsburgh television reporter who followed the Pittsburgh fans across the country during the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, Rio de Janeiro, and Vancouver. Additionally, he flew with the USAF Thunderbirds in an F-16 Fighting Falcon during the Wings Over Pittsburgh Air Show. Besides journalism, he volunteers for many local charity events.
