Sherrod works for WXMI FOX 17 as a news anchor, she joined the FOX17 team in February 2022. Jamie took a journalism class as an elective in high school and fell in love with broadcasting immediately. It was love at first broadcast when she was given the assignment of delivering the morning announcements.
Jamie began her career at a small Alpena, Michigan, station after earning her degree from the University of Michigan-Flint. There, she performed a variety of duties, including as an anchor, producer, and reporter. She contributed to the creation of a fun segment about Northern Michigan called Field Trip Friday while she was there.
Sherrod has worked as an anchor and reporter in the Flint/Saginaw region for the past four years. She began her career as a morning anchor and traffic reporter before becoming the show’s anchor at 9 a.m. Jamie likewise moored end-of-the-week evenings during her time there, which offered her the chance to get out in the field seriously during the week.
She has covered protests, the pandemic’s impact on local businesses and the community, the 2020 presidential election, a deadly home explosion that garnered national attention, and the water crisis.
