Over that period, McGivern has won five Emmys for her investigations into issues such as sex trafficking, sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, the state’s dysfunctional unemployment system, facial recognition technology impeding access to essential government services, and a taxpayer-funded university that shared its domestic technology with rival nations in order to improve blueberry plantation productivity for Florida farmers.
McGivern has received numerous Sunshine State Awards from the Society of Professional Journalists’ Florida Chapter in addition to a Green Eyeshade Award, which honors the region’s finest journalism.
