Bartlett has worked as a co-anchor for FOX 56 News at 10 p.m. since its launch on January 2, 1995. In addition to that role, he is the managing editor for FOX 56 News. Moreover, he produces and reports the weekly feature segment, “Spirit of the Bluegrass.”

During his career, Bartlett has received five regional Emmys for news writing and reporting, as well as over a dozen reporting awards from the Associated Press. After serving his hometown newspaper and radio station, he went to college, where he was involved with the public TV station.

Bartlett secured his first commercial TV job in Paintsville, Kentucky. In this capacity, he was the Eastern Kentucky Bureau Chief for WCHS-TV in Charleston, West Virginia. In late 1987, he relocated to Lexington, where he served the NBC affiliate. There, he started as a videographer and reporter and later worked his way up to weekend anchor and eventually morning anchor.

Besides his broadcasting work, Bartlett worked as an adjunct professor at Florida A&M University. He also taught at the University of Kentucky School of Journalism. In 2002, he wrote “The Joy Cart,” an inspiring book about a young cancer patient he met while working. An updated version of the book was published in 2019 under the name “The Boy Who Delivered Joy.” In 2025, he published his third book, “Spirit of the Bluegrass,” which features stories about some of the most intriguing people and places he has highlighted in his weekly series.
