In January 2021, Miller received the prestigious Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for “creat(ing) a 360 view in real time of the coronavirus pandemic, with courageous and thorough reporting on the virus’s explosion in New York City.”
Miller was a significant contributor to NBC 4 New York’s award-winning COVID-19 coverage. The duPont Award, given by Columbia University as well, is widely acknowledged as the Pulitzer Prize of the broadcast, documentary, and online worlds.
Miller worked as the New York City Fire Department’s (FDNY) deputy press secretary and the Fire Commissioner’s senior advisor before joining NBC 4 New York.
Miller previously worked for three years as a television reporter for NY1 and Spectrum Networks, where he held the position of chief investigative reporter from 2017 to 2019 and won a New York Emmy® in 2018. He was a law enforcement reporter for WPIX-TV from 2015 to 2017, where he was a member of the crew that took home the 2017 Emmy® Award for Best Morning Newscast.
As a member of the team that received the 2017 Edward R. Murrow Award for “Overall Excellence,” he has also served as a correspondent for WCBS Newsradio 880 AM. During this period, he has covered significant Tri-State issues such as the tragic West Side terror assault, the Chelsea terrorist bombing, President Donald Trump’s inauguration, the Bronx Lebanon Hospital massacre, and the Chelsea terrorist bombing.
Miller has also held positions as the digital director at HOT97, where he led the station’s expansion into a digital leader in local radio, and as a national correspondent for Reuters, covering the mid-Atlantic states.
In addition, he worked as a White House reporter for The Daily, traveling the nation with President Barack Obama to cover important topics including Osama bin Laden’s assassination, the Affordable Care Act’s Supreme Court ruling, and the 2012 presidential election.
When Miller was in middle school, he began working for the New York Daily News, where he wrote on local politics and government for their suburban newspapers, Bronx Boro, Queens, and Brooklyn News.
His work has also appeared in the New York Post, FOXNews.com, The Daily Caller, and Women’s Wear Daily during the course of his media career. He belongs to the National Association of Black Journalists, the New York Press Club, the Investigative Reporters and Editors, and the National Forensics League.
