At News 12 Connecticut, Cheng started her career as a reporter, covering the 5 o’clock and 10 o’clock newscasts. Later, she relocated to WFSB-TV in Hartford, where she worked as a reporter for the New Haven bureau and a stand-in anchor.
The Yale Law School explosion, the 2003 blackout, the prosecution of former Governor John Rowland, and the postponed execution of convicted serial murderer Michael Ross were just a few of the high-profile topics Cheng covered in this area.
In addition, Cheng-led investigations discovered several missing one-way, do not enter, and wrong-way traffic signs on ramps and junctions on New Jersey’s Routes 4 and 46, both of which have recently seen fatal wrong-way collisions.
