Soo-young began his acting career in 1998.His initial TV appearnce was on a cookinh show when he was still a student in college. Next, he starred in the film, Summerime in 2001. Further, he had supporting roles in TV shows such as Successful Story of a Bright Girl, Save the Last Dance for Me, and Lawyers of the Great Republic Korea.
